Tough conditions at this years tourney means lack of records broken

Rugged terrain and near hurricane force winds led to high scores and weather beaten faces (as evidenced by the photographs below) last Saturday at King's Park. You can sense the pressure as the brave band of brothers enter the fray for another gruelling putting competition. Last years winner joins an already elite group who have baulked at defending their trophy due to unforseen circumstances. Alan Hall did an impressive job presenting Simon with the new imaginery trophy, although he did nearly drop it a few times!
The tournament was won with an impressive 41 ish for the last man standing and the first man sitting, pictured reclining below, managed a whopping 60 plus. Well done Neil!!

bools

What a fantastic day for hearing the thud of composition plastic bouncing off carefully nurtured turf. Many thanks to the groundsmen at Kings Park Bowling Green for the wonderful restoration job they will almost have completed since our recent visist.

I think it was universally agreed that bowls was a bit of a success and enjoyed by all despite some protesting joints and muscles. It may be we will have to seek a new venue annually given the damage to the playing surface etc but I am sure there are enough greens in the county to let us get away with it for a while. Definately one to be added to the fixture list.

4th July

Ok guys........ I know you're all on holiday but right now its me and Eddie Sheret for the "King of Bowls Trophy". We are trying to keep it quiet from young Thomson Brown (cause he's a bit of a player we hear) but if you fancy a wee game o bools its 9 at the Forge followed by 10 at the bowling green behind the Church. You just need shoes without a heel (aye Drew that includes your stillettos) trainers are fine!! Let me know if you can make it.

Saturday 30th May

Well the voting is over and it seems we are destined for Rosslyn Glen this month. A friend of mine showed me a good circular walk with a couple of interesting points (including earthworks created by Cromwell's troops). Maybe I can get him to give us a tour. He does work on Saturdays but perhaps I can persuade him!!
Can I suggest we meet at Church (8.30-45 sharp Keith) to divvy up cars and then on to the Car Park at Rosslyn Chapel for 9.00am kick off? Take a pack-up breakfast if you want (Drew, you might want to doubleup on the burgers its a wee walk!)
